Moritz Beutel, Dr.
Short Bio:
After earning a Master’s degree in physics from Heidelberg University, Moritz Beutel took up doctoral studies in computer science, only to be led back to an astrophysical problem. He received his doctorate in 2024 with a dissertation on simulations of protoplanetary structure growth processes by combination of stochastic and deterministic methods, with particular attention to efficient computational schemes for stochastic particle simulations. Since 2024, Moritz is working as a postdoctoral researcher with the Application Specific Computing group.
Research Interests:
- Iterative stencil computations and temporal blocking techniques
- Monte Carlo methods for discrete event simulation
- The growth of solid matter in the planet formation process
